Easiest One-Piece Slippers (Free Pattern)

An elderly neighbour asked me to make her a few pairs of slippers similar to the knit slippers that she owns, and after scouring the internet for a pattern (to no avail), I came up with this one. The yarn choice was hers, as she wanted something that would last a long time. This yarn is TOUGH, folks! A warning though - it is very hard on your hands. I recommend moisturizing your hands (with homemade lotion, of course!) between crochet sessions.
These slippers are very easy to modify in order to change size. To widen, simply add more increase rows after row 6 (start with adding only one more row. One row increase adds more width than you would think). To lengthen, add more rows to the heel portion.

This pattern is for a size 7-8.
I used Phentex slipper yarn and a size 4 hook. You will also need stitch markers. I use paperclips!

Abbreviations: SC = single crochet.
SC2TOG = single crochet two together. Insert hook into first stitch. Pull up a loop. Insert hook into second stitch. Pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

This is the toe portion
Row 1: Chain 5. SC in 2nd chain from hook and in next 2 stiches. 3 SC in last stitch (place marker in 2nd stitch of increase). Working on other side of chain, SC in the next 2 stitches. 2 SC in last stitch (place marker in 2nd stitch).
Do not join. Slippers will be worked in continuous rounds.

Row 2: SC in next stitch, and SC to marker. 3 SC in marked stitch (place marker in 2nd stitch of increase). SC to next marker. 3 SC in marked stitch (place marker in 2nd stitch of increase).

Row 3 - 6: Repeat Row 2. Remove markers at the end of row 6

Row 7 - 24: SC in each stitch.

Lay the slipper flat. Find the middle 5 stitches on the top of the slipper. Place markers on the outside stitches.

Markers are placed in the centre 5 stitches.
This is the heel portion

Row 25: SC to first marker. Chain 1. Turn. SC to next marker. Chain 1. Turn.

Row 26 - 42: SC in each stitch. Chain 1. Turn. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Turn heel inside out and sew together using a whip stitch.

Row 43: Join yarn with a slip stitch to back of slipper. Chain 1. SC in same stitch as joining. SC evenly around top of slipper. Slip stitch to first SC. Chain 1.

Row 44: SC2TOG 2 times. SC in each stitch to last 4 stitches. SC2TOG 2 times. Join with slip stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Make 2.

This is a nice pattern, though I am having trouble trying to understand row 25. Am I to crochet in the 5 stitches set a side chain one and turn, then another role chain 1 and turn. Where does row 26 start and finish? Do I leave out the 5 stitches. This heel portion is not explain very well. It would help to show a picture to describe this area. The picture showing the first half isn't needed. It is self-explanatory. If it is possible could you show how the heel area or rows 25 and 26 is put together? Thank you for your time and your patterns. I greatly appreciate it and I'm sure many people including myself enjoy the patterns you have shared with us.
